I am the person who oversees all the "back room" functions at the library.  Here's what we do in our department:

Team Tech Services
Organizes info for
Resources access.

We, your providers
Acquire, process, pay; support
the Love of learning.

Responsibilities

Supervising Acquisitions (ordering, receiving, paying), Bindery (binding and repair), Cataloging (organzing with call numbers and assigning descriptors and other metadata to help patrons find materials), Electronic Resources (e-books, e-serials, and databases (but NOT e-reserves or systems)), and Serials (journals, magazines, newspapers, and other continuing publications).

I also manage the library's material budget, prepare internal and external reports, set some policy, and supervise a department of 7 terrific people.

Other Professional Interests:

I have an on-going project seeking best (and most curious) practices for budget management in academic libraries.

I wrote a (now outdated) textbook on how to manage electronic resources in an academic library:  https://smile.amazon.com/Electronic-Resources-Management-Academic-Library/dp/1610690052/ref=smi_www_rco2_go_smi_g3499217482?_encoding=UTF8&%2AVersion%2A=1&%2Aentries%2A=0&ie=UTF8

I am fascinated by all the complex and convoluted purchasing models for e-books.
