Linking to Library E-Resources

Linking to Library E-Resources

To create a link to a journal article from a database or on a publisher's website, sometimes you need to use publisher-produced persistent URLs because the URL in the address bar won't work later.

This guide will lay out basic instructions for finding the full-text link in the major databases to which the Ithaca College Library subscribes.

  1. Right click the thumbnail of an image you want.
  2. Select "Generate image URL."
  3. Copy the URL that pops up.

To add a link for an individual ebook, copy the URL from the address bar in your browser.

To add a link for a specific chapter or page, navigate to your page and note the page number at the beginning of the parentheses:

Add &pgg=## to the end of the URL in your browser's address bar.

EBSCO Databases

On the right side of the article page, click the permalink icon in the menu bar:

Copy the link that displays toward the top of the page:

Gale Databases (e.g., InfoTrac)

Scroll to the bottom of the article display screen to the Source Citation section. Copy the link under "Document URL."

From the article page, copy the URL beside "Stable URL."

In the upper right of the page of the article, click the Copy Document Link icon.

ProQuest Databases

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the article.
  2. Copy the URL beside "Document URL."
